Biographie
Tatiana Timonina (1992) is a flutist, sound artist and performer based in Basel, Switzerland.
Throughout her career, Tatiana Timonina has sought to break down musical barriers and challenge the traditional modes of expression. By experimenting with diverse styles and collaborating with different artists from different backgrounds, she seeks to clash non-identical musical worlds in order to create something unexpected and exciting.
Tatiana has obtained two Master degrees in classical and contemporary music at la Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne and at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel as well as a diploma of advanced studies in audio design at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel.
The main focus of Tatiana’s work is composition and performance of electroacoustic and contemporary music, free improvisation with flute or/and electronics as well as interdisciplinary performance.
She has created (alone and in collaborations) several sound installations, audio-visual shows, instrumental and choreographed performances and live-electronic sets. She regularly participates in Swiss and international music festivals ,and her works were presented in Gare du Nord (piece “Inter-movement”) and Theater Basel (sound installation “Intolleranza”), in the concert halls of Geneva, St Gallen, Bern, in Vienna and at the festival “Usine Sonore” in Biel (audio-visual performance “The sun is bright” in collaboration with Millian Mori and Charlotte Martin).
Tatiana is a member of Ensemble Lemniscate and Trio Stop,Drop&Roll from Basel as well as of the Ensemble TaG from Winterthur. As a guest player she has performed with ensembles Recherche, Container, AWKAS and with Sinfonieorchester Basel.
Tatiana collaborated with such musicians and composers as George E. Lewis, Vinko Globokar, Jean-Pierre Drouet, Morgan Agren, Theodor Currentzis and others.
In 2023 she released her first experimental pop EP tohether with the sound artist Lino Schilling.
Currently she is working on a new experimental music project in a duo with a jazz guitar player Killian Perret-Gentil.
